GYRO DINNER CLUB
The
dinner club is an interest group of the Camosun Gyro Club. Dinner
parties are held 4 (5) times in a season, one in October, November,
January, February and (March). Each couple will host once (and some
twice for the 5th dinner).
Those participating
must research and prepare food of selected countries or themes.
Wherever possible the hosts will serve wines of the featured country,
or a wine or drink of the host’s choice ( with the exception of
‘homemade’ ).
DINNER FORMAT
Dinner
parties consist of four couples, including the host couple. The menu
will usually consist of appetizers, soup or salads, main course and
dessert. Dinners start at a time set by the hosts.
PLANNING THE DINNERS
The hosts are responsible for co-ordinating the meal as follows:
Host
couple provide pre-dinner drinks, the wine or drinks of country or
theme (3 or 4 bottles for 4 couples ), and the main course.
Guest
couples are responsible for one of the other 3 courses and the required
utensils and serving dishes. Each couple will serve and clear their own
course.
IMPORTANT
Once
the dinner plan is established, your course becomes an integral part of
the meal. Should you, for any reason, not be able to attend, you must
arrange for another Gyro couple to substitute. If possible the
substitute couple would prepare the pre-selected course.
Information on the cost sharing procedure should also be indicated to the substitute couple.
SHARING THE COSTS
The
costs of the dinner party, including the main course, the wine (not the
before or after drinks), and the guests’ courses will be shared by all
those attending. The hosts will ask for the cost from each couple,
determine equal portions and arrange the necessary money transfer.
OUR MAIN OBJECTIVE is to enjoy good food and good fellowship.
